Jesus said to his disciples: You know that in the world rulers lord it over their subjects and make their power felt. This is not to happen among you. No, anyone who wants to be great among you must be your servant. (Mark 10:42-45)

From the book of Isaiah: Why do you complain, my people, saying, “My way is hidden from the Lord, my cause is disregarded by God”? Do you not know? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the world, who does not tire or grow weary. (Isaiah 40:25-28)

Peter writes: Clothe yourselves in humility in your relationships with others, for God gives his grace to the humble. (1 Peter 5:5-7)
